Will I lose my new car warranty if I come to Melbourne Prestige?

A.

Absolutely not.

Melbourne Prestige can perform the correct log-book servicing (at significant savings to the car owner) that ensures that your car is fully covered by the original warranty.

Australia has laws that prevent unfair consumer practices such as forcing new car buyers to continue to use that dealer for additional servicing.

How often should I get my car serviced?

A.

Car manufacturers are specifying longer intervals between services which sounds great. But this can mean that your car can go for a year without anyone even lifting the hood and checking the oil or water levels.

Melbourne Prestige recommend that you have your car serviced every six months. That way we can perform a quick safety check and ensure that your car is safe for you and your family.

Even if your car is not due for a service, feel free to drop in and ask us to check the oil and water for you. We used to really on service stations to do this as part of their standard driveway service.

Should I only use genuine spare parts?

A.

As we have discussed elsewhere on our website, there are some unscrupulous spare parts manufacturers trying to pass off their parts as being genuine.

We recommend either genuine spare parts or parts made by other professional manufacturing companies that meet or exceed the original car makers (OEM) quality standards.

Car makers such as Toyota, Mazda, Holden have sometimes marked up the prices of their parts to ridiculous levels. In fact, sometimes we can buy the exact same part from the factory that supplies the can makers at half the price.

If you are unsure about these facts, please ask Karl or Mark about your concerns on your next visit.

Do you have a loan car?

A.

We are happy to let you use one of our loan cars while we service or repair your car.

We only charge $25 per day for the use of our cars.

As an alternative, we are walking distance to the Croydon Railway Station and Bus Lines or you can visit the Croydon Shopping Centre close by.

Can you check a car before I buy it?

A.

This is a great idea. Most people can walk around a car and look for dents or scratches, but it is under the bonnet or under the car that counts.

What if my car breaks down at the side of the road?

Please call our office on 03-9723 7822 and we will either come out and look at your car or arrange to have your car returned to our workshop.

We can take all the stress out of a bad situation.

If I buy a used prestige car, will it cost me a fortune to maintain?

A.

This is a great question. There are some fabulous buys in the market if you look for a 5-10 year old prestige car. But it would be a good idea to discuss this with Karl or Mark at Melbourne Prestige first

A used prestige car like a BMW or Mercedes can be a great buy as long as you know the ones to avoid. Some may have known issues with a transmission and these can be $5-$10,000 to repair.

But if you take our advice, you can drive in a superb luxury car at a fraction of the cost of the equivalent new car.
